What is CrossFit Kids?

CrossFit Kids is a strength and conditioning program that is specifically designed to help kids develop a lifelong love of fitness. In a group setting, children participate in fun and engaging workouts that deliver measurable results and prepare them to be well- rounded athletes.

CrossFit Kids (Ages 5-12) classes are designed for our younger members and will enhance ones general physical fitness. Using the CrossFit Kids methodologies of constantly varied, functional movement we carefully select age appropriate activities that will allow children to develop at their own rate. Qualified CrossFit Kids coaching staff will safely and effectively engage children through a huge variety of games and activities to make exercise fun and effective.

It is a great discipline for your children. CrossFit can be a great base for kids to carry them into other sports and also develop them as healthy fit human beings.  The benefits of a program like CrossFit Kids can be long lasting for children, both physically and mentally, and it is a great activity for children to get into at any age.

*At CrossFit CIC we have created a safe place for children to be themselves no matter what their current fitness level may be.

*It is our goal that every child who participates in one of our classes leaves with a smile on their faces, sweaty, healthier, and more educated than when they came.

Please Note: The time frame is 1 hour to accommodate parents who may be WODing. But the young athletes WOD will often only be 45 minutes due to age and developmental factors.

The last 15 minutes of the hour will be devoted to reading and brain work. It will also be a time to clean up our area and get ready for the next class.

Jeff Desantis| CrossFit Kids Coach

I started CrossFit CIC in June 2014. I have worked out in several different gyms for the past 25 years. I was in the Marine Corps for 4 years active and 4 years reserve and have been in Law Enforcement for the past 17 years. I have always tried to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Joining CrossFit CIC has given me a different passion for exercise and health. I love the family atmosphere that CIC has. CIC has become an extension of my family. My wife joined CIC with me and has loved every moment of it. My kids beg me every time we go to CIC to work out with us. This motivated me to not only get my Level 1 Certificate but also to then go on to get my CrossFit Kids Certificate.

To me CrossFit is about feeling better about one’s self. It is not about being first on the whiteboard, but about having proper form, challenging your self and having fun. I really look forward to coaching CrossFit Kids. I hope I can influence these kids both physically and mentally. And I want to instill the value of fitness at an early age that will lead them for the rest of their lives. My goal is eventually for the whole family to work out together. Sharing a love for fitness and heath can be a time for your family to bond.
